SAPA - CAT BA BUS ITINERARY

It takes around 10 hours driving by bus from Sapa to Cat Ba island: You can take either direct local bus ( go straight from Sapa to Cat Ba ) or indirect bus ( Sapa - Hanoi by sleeper bus + Hanoi - Cat Ba island by tourist bus).

The direct local bus can take you straight to Cat Ba island but facilities & service of this bus is not really good ( sleeping berth is too small to fit western people ). It is highly reccomended to take the indirect bus instead for the best time & best service. If you choose this option, please see the itinerary in details as below:

Hotel pick-up at Sapa town by sleeper bus
Travel via Lao Cai - Hanoi Express way
Arrive at bus office in Hanoi. Break -time
Get pick -up by toursit bus Hanoi - Cat Ba via new high way Hanoi - Hai Phong
Get on speedboat or ferry to Cai Vieng Pier – Northern part of Catba Island ( 10 mins by speedboat or 20 mins by ferry)
Travel to Cat Ba town by bus (40 minutes). Hotel drop-off in Cat Ba Town or on the way.
